A method of inducing an immune response against a heterologous amino acid sequence in a mammal, comprising:
- (A) providing an expression vector for producing the Schwarz strain of measles virus comprising the nucleotide sequence from position 83 to position 15976 of SEQ ID NO:
- 82 and an Additional Transcription Unit comprising a heterologous coding sequence encoding the heterologous amino acid sequence;
- (B) transfecting helper cells capable of expressing helper functions to express an RNA polymerase, and to express the N, P and L proteins of a measles virus with the expression vector;
- (C) maintaining the transfected helper cells under conditions suitable for production of Schwarz strain measles viral particles;
- (D) passaging the viral particles in cells suitable for the passage of the Schwarz strain;
- (E) recovering the passaged viral particles;
- and
- (F) inducing an immune response against the heterologous amino acid sequence by administering a dose of the recovered viral particles to the mammal.

A method of inducing an immune response against a heterologous amino acid sequence in a mammal, comprising:
- (A) providing recombinant viral particles that encode the heterologous amino acid sequence;
- and
- (B) inducing an immune response against the heterologous amino acid sequence by administering the viral particles to the mammal;
- wherein the viral particles in (A) are viral particles produced by a method comprising:
- (i) providing an expression vector for producing the Schwarz strain of measles virus comprising the nucleotide sequence from position 83 to position 15976 of SEQ ID NO:
- 82 and an Additional Transcription Unit comprising a heterologous coding sequence encoding the heterologous amino acid sequence;

- (iii) maintaining the transfected helper cells under conditions suitable for production of Schwarz strain measles viral particles;
- (iv) passaging the viral particles in cells suitable for the passage of the Schwarz strain;
- and
- (v) recovering the passaged viral particles.
