A method of controlling insects, comprising:
- contacting at least one seed with at least one N-substituted(6-haloalkylpyridin-3-yl)alkyl sulfoximine to control insects in Order Coleopteran, the at least one N-substituted(6-haloalkylpyridin-3-yl)alkyl sulfoximine comprising the following chemical structure:
- where X comprises nitrogen dioxide (NO2), cyanide (CN), or COOR4;
- L comprises a single bond, or R1, S, and L taken together comprise a 4-, 5-, or 6-membered ring;
- R1 comprises a (C1-C4) alkyl;
- R2 and R3 independently comprise hydrogen (H), methyl, ethyl, fluoro, chloro, or bromo;
