Abstract
The invention provides compositions and methods for ameliorating renal dysfunction induced by renal hypoperfusion or acute kidney injury, resulting for example from increased intra-abdominal pressure, using phosphodiesterase inhibitors, more particularly phosphodiesterase type inhibitors, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof.

A method for ameliorating renal dysfunction induced by renal hypoperfusion or acute kidney injury in an individual in need thereof, said method comprising administering to said individual a therapeutically effective amount of a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.
A method for ameliorating renal dysfunction induced by increased intraabdominal pressure (IAP) in an individual in need thereof, said method comprising administering to said individual a therapeutically effective amount of a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, for ameliorating renal dysfunction induced by renal hypoperfusion or acute kidney injury.
