Abstract
A cathode material for a lithium ion secondary battery includes: a metal oxide as a cathode active material; and a carbon material which coats at least a part of a surface of a particle of the metal oxide, wherein the cathode material has hydrophilicity so as to be precipitated into pure water.

A cathode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, comprising:
- a metal oxide as a cathode active material;
- and
- a carbon material which coats at least a part of a surface of a particle of the metal oxide,
- wherein the cathode material has hydrophilicity so as to be precipitated into pure water.

A cathode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, comprising:
- a metal oxide particle as a cathode active material;
- a surface carbon layer which coats at least a part of a surface of the metal oxide particle and is chemically bonded to the metal oxide;
- and
- a bump-like carbon mass which coats a part of the surface of the metal oxide particle.

A method for producing a cathode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, comprising the steps of:
- turning a mixed solution into a liquid droplet, the mixed solution containing at least a lithium-containing compound and a carbon-containing compound;
- thermally decomposing the liquid droplet to generate an intermediate powder;
- and
- milling the intermediate powder;
- and
- annealing the milled intermediate powder, wherein
- the cathode material for the lithium ion secondary battery, in which at least a part of a surface is coated with a carbon material, is produced by the steps.
