Abstract
A method of operating a wireless communication system (FIG. 4) is disclosed. The method includes receiving downlink control information (702) for transmission to a user equipment (UE) in enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH). A pseudo-random number generator is initialized (706) for generating a pseudo-random sequence. A plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) are generated with the pseudo-random sequence. The plurality of DMRS is mapped with the EPDCCH and transmitted to the UE (712).
Claims20
A method of operating a communication system, comprising the steps of:
- receiving downlink control information for transmission to a user equipment (UE) in an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH);
- initializing a pseudo-random number generator for generating a pseudo-random sequence;
- generating a plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) with the pseudo-random sequence;
- mapping the modulated DMRS with the EPDCCH;
- and
- transmitting the EPDCCH to the UE.
A method of operating a communication system;
- comprising:
- receiving a first plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) in an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) from a base station (eNB);
- initializing a pseudo-random number generator for generating a pseudo-random sequence;
- producing a second plurality of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) from the pseudo-random sequence;
- estimating a channel characteristic by comparing the first plurality of DMRS with the second plurality of DMRS;
- and
- blindly decoding the EPDCCH.
A method of operating a communication system, comprising the steps of:
- receiving downlink control information (DCI) for transmission to a user equipment (UE) in an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH);
- configuring a plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) for EPDCCH resources;
- configuring a plurality of enhanced control channel elements (eCCE) in the plurality of PRBs;
- configuring a plurality of enhanced resource element groups (eREGs) in each eCCE, wherein each eREG comprises a respective plurality of resource elements having a same frequency;
- and
- mapping the EPDCCH across eREGs in a subset of PRBs of the configured plurality of PRBs.
