Luminance source selection in a multi-lens camera

A multi-lens camera system, comprising:

• a first lens configured to direct light collected from a field of view onto a first image sensor region, the first image sensor region configured to capture the light incident upon the first image sensor region and to generate a first initial image;
• a second lens configured to direct light collected from a field of view onto a second image sensor region, the second image sensor region configured to capture the light incident upon the second image sensor region and to generate a second initial image;
• an controller configured to generate luminance information for a final image based on the first initial image and the second initial image, the controller configured to, for each portion of the final image, compare luminance information of corresponding portions of the first initial image and the second initial image, and to select luminance information for the final image portion based on the comparison.
