Abstract
The present invention relates to methods for treating and/or preventing metabolic diseases comprising the combined administration of a GLP-1 receptor agonist and a DPP-4 inhibitor.
Claims23
1) A combination comprising
- a GLP-1 receptor agonist and linagliptin,
- for separate, sequential or simultaneous therapeutic use of the active components.
11) A method of using linagliptin for preventing of body weight and/or body fat gain or controlling, stabilizing or maintaining a reduced body weight and/or body fat after initial weight reducing treatment.
15) A method of using linagliptin for preventing of body weight and/or body fat gain or controlling, stabilizing or maintaining a reduced body weight and/or body fat after discontinuation of treatment with a GLP-1 receptor agonist selected from exenatide, exenatide LAR, liraglutide, taspoglutide, semaglutide, albiglutide, lixisenatide and dulaglutide.
16) A method of treating type 2 diabetes, obesity or both, said method comprising administration of a DPP-4 inhibitor and a GLP-1 receptor agonist selected from exenatide, exenatide LAR, liraglutide, taspoglutide, semaglutide, albiglutide, lixisenatide and dulaglutide, wherein said administration is selected from separate, sequential or simultaneous administration.
17) A method of treating type 2 diabetes, obesity or both, said method comprising administration of a GLP-1 receptor agonist selected from exenatide, exenatide LAR, liraglutide, taspoglutide, semaglutide, albiglutide, lixisenatide and dulaglutide, and linagliptin, wherein said administration is selected from separate, sequential or simultaneous administration.
18) A method of using linagliptin for attenuating or preventing rebound of weight and/or fat gain following discontinuation of weight reducing treatment in obesity patients with or without diabetes, said method comprising administering the subsequent to the weight reducing treatment, optionally in combination with one or more other therapeutic agents.
20) A method of using linagliptin for attenuating or preventing rebound of weight and/or fat gain following discontinuation of treatment with a GLP-1 receptor agonist selected from exenatide, exenatide LAR, liraglutide, taspoglutide, semaglutide, albiglutide, lixisenatide and dulaglutide,
- in obesity patients with or without diabetes, said method comprising administering the linagliptin subsequent to the treatment with the GLP-1 receptor agonist, optionally in combination with one or more other therapeutic agents.
21) A method of using linagliptin for reducing, maintaining loss of or delaying increase of body weight and/or body fat in a subject being in condition of actively putting on weight and/or increasing body weight through the deposition of fat.
22) A method of using linagliptin for treating, preventing or reducing the risk of skin necrosis associated with or induced by (a) injections by a needle or syringe pierced through the skin from subcutaneous injections of a GLP-1 receptor agonist or (b) infusions.
