Abstract
Disclosed herein are antisense compounds and methods for decreasing Factor 11 and treating or preventing thromboembolic complications in an individual in need thereof. Examples of disease conditions that can be ameliorated with the administration of antisense compounds targeted to Factor 11 include thrombosis, embolism, and thromboembolism, such as, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Antisense compounds targeting Factor 11 can also be used as a prophylactic treatment to prevent individuals at risk for thrombosis and embolism.

A method of treating a thromboembolic complication in an animal, comprising administering to an animal in need thereof a compound comprising a modified oligonucleotide consisting of 12 to 30 linked nucleosides, wherein the modified oligonucleotide is at least 90% complementary to a Factor 11 nucleic acid.
A method of reducing expression of Factor 11, comprising contacting a cell or tissue with a compound comprising a modified oligonucleotide consisting of 12 to 30 linked nucleosides and having a nucleobase sequence comprising at least 12 contiguous nucleobases of SEQ ID NO:
- 217 or 223, wherein the nucleobase sequence of the modified oligonucleotide is at least 90% complementary to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 as measured over the entirety of the modified oligonucleotide.
