Abstract
The invention relates to a ship, in particular a cargo ship, having a power supply system. The invention relates in particular to a ship having a plurality of diesel electric systems for providing electrical power that are disposed within the ship, wherein a plurality of diesel electric systems are each associated with a common opening for removing the diesel electric systems. The invention further relates to a power supply system for a ship and to a method for controlling the power supply system of a ship.
Claims14
A ship comprising:
- an energy supply system that includes a plurality of diesel-electric systems for providing electrical energy, the diesel-electric systems being arranged in an interior portion of the ship;
- a common opening associated with the plurality of diesel-electric systems for removal of the diesel-electric systems;
- and
- a control unit associated with the energy supply system and is configured in dependence on an energy requirement to switch on and shut down one or more of the plurality of the diesel-electric systems, the control unit being configured to:
- detect a number of operating hours that each diesel-electric system has been operating, and
- select between switching on and shutting down one or more diesel-electric systems depending on the detected operating hours in such a way that a difference is maintained between the diesel-electric systems with respect to the numbers of operating hours.

An energy supply system for a cargo ship that includes a plurality of diesel-electric systems for providing electrical energy, the plurality of diesel-electric systems being removable through a common opening of the ship, the energy supply system comprising:
- a control unit that includes:
- a unit for detecting a number of operating hours that each of the diesel-electric systems of the ship have been operating,
- a unit for establishing a maintenance routine when a diesel-electric system has reached a particular number of operating hours,
- a unit for determining an energy requirement,
- a unit for determining a number of diesel-electric systems needed for the particular energy requirement, and
- a switching unit for switching on and shutting down one or more diesel-electric systems based on the number of diesel-electric systems needed for the particular energy requirement and based on the detected operating hours for each diesel-electric system.
12-13. (canceled)
A method of controlling an energy supply system of a ship, the method comprising:
- detecting a number of operating hours of the diesel-electric systems of the ship, and
- identifying a maintenance routine if a diesel-electric system has reached a particular number of operating hours, and
- determining an energy requirement,
- determining a number of diesel-electric systems needed for obtaining the determined energy requirement, and
- switching on and shutting down one or more diesel-electric systems depending on the determined number of diesel-electric systems needed for the determined energy requirement and depending on the respectively detected number of operating hours such that the numbers of operating hours for each diesel-electric system does not exceed the particular number of operating hours.
