## Abstract

A warming device for perioperative use includes a clinical garment and a convective thermal blanket supported on an inside surface of the clinical garment. A mechanism may be provided to releasably attach the thermal blanket to the clinical garment.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A warming device, comprising:
a garment;
a convective lower body thermal blanket attached to the inside of the garment;
the lower body thermal blanket including a surface and apertures in the surface through which air flows in response to inflation of the lower body thermal blanket; and,
a mechanism acting between the garment and the lower body thermal blanket and adapted to release the lower body thermal blanket from the inside of the garment.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, wherein the lower body thermal blanket is disposed transversely across a lower portion of the inside of the garment.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, wherein the mechanism includes lines of weakness in the garment near the perimeter of the lower body thermal blanket.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, wherein the mechanism is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, wherein the upper body thermal blanket is disposed longitudinally along the inside of the garment.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, further comprising:
an upper body thermal blanket attached to the inside of the garment and having a shape to extend transversely across the upper body of a person to cover the person's chest and extended arms; and
means for releasably retaining the upper body thermal blanket on the inside of the garment.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The warming device of claim 6, wherein the means includes one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The warming device of claim 1, wherein the garment is a clinical garment.

### Claim 9

A warming device, comprising:
a garment with a lower hem;
a first thermal blanket attached to the inside of the garment and disposed longitudinally along the inside of the garment;
first means acting between the garment and the first thermal blanket for detaching the first thermal blanket from the garment; and
second means for releasably retaining the lower hem against the inside of the garment.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The warming device of claim 9, wherein the first means comprises lines of weakness in the garment near the perimeter of the first thermal blanket.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The warming device of claim 9, wherein the first means is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The warming device of claim 9, wherein the second means is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The warming device of claim 9, further comprising:
a second thermal blanket attached to the inside of the garment and disposed transversely across the middle of the garment on a folded portion inside the garment extending from the lower hem; and
third means for releasably retaining the second thermal blanket on the folded portion.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The warming device of claim 13, wherein the third means comprises lines of weakness in the garment near the perimeter of the second thermal blanket.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The warming device of claim 13, wherein the third means is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 16 (depends on 9)

The warming device of claim 9, wherein the garment is a clinical garment.

### Claim 17

A warming device, comprising:
a clinical garment with opposed vertical hems and opposed flaps formed in the opposed vertical hems;
a thermal blanket attached to the inside of the clinical garment, transversely to the inside of the clinical garment, extending from one flap to the other flap;
first means for detaching the upper body thermal blanket from the clinical garment; and
second means for releasably retaining the opposed flaps against the inside of the clinical garment.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The warming device of claim 17, wherein the first means comprises lines of weakness in the clinical garment near the perimeter of the upper body thermal blanket.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The warming device of claim 17, wherein the first means is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The warming device of claim 17, wherein the second means is one of hook and eye material, adhesive, or snaps.
