Abstract
Embodiments for determining a dental treatment difficulty are described herein. One method embodiment includes receiving an initial and subsequent position of each of a first tooth and a second tooth and calculating a change in position of each of the first tooth and the second tooth. The method embodiment can also include projecting the changes in position of each of the first tooth and the second tooth onto a reference line and calculating a change in position on the reference line for the first tooth and the second tooth. The method embodiment can further include determining the dental treatment difficulty based on the changes in position on the reference line.
Claims20
A computing device implemented method of determining a dental treatment difficulty, comprising:
- receiving an initial and subsequent position of each of a first tooth and a second tooth;
- calculating a change in position of each of the first tooth and the second tooth;
- projecting the changes in position of each of the first tooth and the second tooth onto a reference line;
- calculating a change in position on the reference line for the first tooth and the second tooth;
- and
- determining the dental treatment difficulty based on the change in position on the reference line.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having executable instructions that can be executed by a processor to cause a computing device to perform a method of determining a dental treatment difficulty, comprising:
- receiving an initial position of a canine tooth and an initial position of a posterior tooth;
- receiving a subsequent position of the canine tooth and a subsequent position of the posterior tooth;
- calculating a change in position of the canine tooth and a change in position of the posterior tooth;
- projecting the changes in position of the canine tooth and the posterior tooth onto a reference line;
- calculating a change in position on the reference line for the canine tooth and the posterior tooth;
- comparing the change in position to a threshold change in position;
- and
- determining the dental treatment difficulty based on the comparison.
A system for determining a dental treatment difficulty, comprising:
- a computation module configured to compute a change in position between an initial position and a subsequent position of each of a canine tooth and a posterior tooth;
- a projection module configured to project the changes in position for each of the canine tooth and the posterior tooth onto a reference line;
- a calculation module configured to calculate a change in root position of the canine tooth and the posterior tooth in relation to the reference line;
- a difficulty module configured to determine the dental treatment difficulty based on the change in position;
- and
- a treatment module configured to adjust a dental treatment plan based on a comparison of the dental treatment difficulty and a provider skill level.
