Abstract
A centrifugal compressor comprising an impeller having an input drive, the impeller having an impulse turbine positioned around the periphery of the impeller to be driven by the gas exiting the impeller, the output of the turbine being coupled to the drive of the impeller.

A centrifugal compressor comprising an impeller having an input drive, the impeller having an impulse turbine positioned around the periphery of the impeller to be driven by the gas exiting the impeller.
The centrifugal compressor according to claim 11 wherein a gearbox is interposed between the output shaft of the impulse turbine and the drive of the impeller.
The centrifugal compressor according to claim 11 wherein the output of the turbine is coupled to a double planetary gear box that drives the impeller.
