Abstract
The hidden interlocking hinge assembly at least partially hides or conceals the hinging mechanism of a door pivotally attached to a jamb. The assembly incorporates interlocking knuckles on the door and the jamb, an overlapping flange feature, and a corresponding depression feature that allows the overlapping flange and the depression to move relative to the other without binding and while generally concealing the balance of the assembly.

A hidden interlocking hinge assembly comprising:
- a jamb defining a jamb knuckle;
- a door defining a door knuckle that is configured to interlock with the jamb knuckle along a hinge axis;
- a depression formed in one of the jamb and the door;
- and
- a flange extending from the other of the jamb and the door to beyond the hinge axis;
- wherein pivoting the door about the hinge axis pivots the flange into the depression.

A hidden interlocking hinge assembly comprising:
- a jamb defining a jamb plane and a plurality of jamb knuckles;
- a door defining a door plane and a plurality door knuckles that are configured to interlock with the plurality of jamb knuckles along a hinge axis;
- a depression formed in one of the jamb and the door;
- and
- a flange extending from the other of the jamb and the door;
- wherein when the jamb plane and the door plane are substantially parallel the flange extends over a portion of the depression;
- and
- wherein when the jamb plane and the door plane are skewed the flange extends into the depression.

A method of forming a hidden interlocking hinge assembly comprising the steps of:
- molding a jamb having a jamb knuckle and one of a depression and a flange;
- molding a door having a door knuckle and the other of the depression and the flange;
- and
- interlocking the jamb knuckles and the door knuckles such that as door pivots relative to the jamb about a hinge axis the flange moves into the depression.
