Partition Level Power Management Using Fully Asynchronous Cores with Software that has Limited Asynchronous Support

An information handling system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a plurality of processing cores included in the one or more processors;
• a memory accessible by one or more of the processors;
• and
• a set of instructions executed by one or more of the processors in order to perform actions of:
• providing a first frequency range to each of the plurality of processing cores, wherein the first frequency range indicates one or more first frequency value limits;
• identifying one or more of the plurality of processing cores that reach one or more of the first frequency value limits;
• and
• providing a second frequency range to each of the plurality of processing cores in response to the identification of one or more of the plurality of processing cores reaching one or more of the frequency value limits.

A computer program product stored in a computer storage medium, comprising functional descriptive material that, when executed by an information handling system, causes the information handling system to perform actions that include:

• providing a first frequency range to each of a plurality of processing cores, wherein the first frequency range indicates one or more first frequency value limits;
• identifying one or more of the plurality of processing cores that reach one or more of the first frequency value limits;
• and
• providing a second frequency range to each of the plurality of processing cores in response to the identification of one or more of the plurality of processing cores reaching one or more of the frequency value limits.
