Abstract
A method and system may operate a coupled range imager and intensity imager to obtain a sequence of at least two automatically registered images, each automatically registered image including concurrently acquired range data and intensity data with regard to an imaged scene. The registered range and intensity data is analyzed to yield an estimated motion of an element of an imaged object of the imaged scene.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- operating a coupled range imager and intensity imager to obtain a sequence of at least two automatically registered images, each automatically registered image including concurrently acquired range data and intensity data with regard to an imaged scene;
- and
- analyzing the registered range and intensity data to yield an estimated motion of an element of an imaged object of the imaged scene.
A system comprising:
- collection optics to collect light from a scene and focus the collected light;
- an intensity imager detector;
- a range imager detector;
- a beam splitter to divide light that is collected by the collection optics such that part of the collected light is focused on the intensity imager detector, and another part of the collected light is focused on the range imager detector;
- and
- a controller to control the intensity imager detector to acquire an intensity image of the scene and concurrently control the range imager detector to acquire a range image, to combine the acquired intensity and range images into an automatically registered image, and to analyze a sequence of successively acquired automatically registered images to calculate an estimated motion of an element of an imaged object in the scene.
