Implantable medical device with communication by way of physical connector, system and method therefore

An implantable medical device, comprising:

• a physical connector;
• a medical module configured to at least one of (1) deliver a therapeutic output by way of said physical connector and (2) sense data indicative of a physiologic condition of a patient by way of said physical connector;
• and
• a communication module configured to communicate with an external communication device by way of said physical connector.

A method of operating an implantable medical device having a physical connector, comprising the steps of:

• performing at least one of:
• delivering a therapeutic output by way of said physical connector;
• and
• sensing data indicative of a physiologic condition of a patient by way of said physical connector;
• and
• electronically communicating with said implantable medical device by way of said physical connector.
