Abstract
Provided is a new prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for lymphedema, for which until now there has been no effective means of treatment, and the prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for lymphedema comprises, as an active ingredient, a compound represented by the following formula (1), a lactone derivative thereof, or a salt of the compound or lactone derivative: wherein R1 represents an organic group, X represents —CH2CH2— or —CH=CH—, and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.

A method for preventing, treating, or both preventing and treating lymphedema, the method comprising:
- administering, to a subject in need thereof, an effective amount of a compound of formula (1), a lactone derivative thereof, a salt of the compound, or a salt of the lactone derivative thereof:
- wherein R1 is an organic group,
- X is —CH2CH2— or —CH=CH—, and
- R2 represents is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.
