Emi shielding member, particularly suitable for shielding of module cages

A receptacle assembly, comprising:

• a hollow cage having a front end with an opening communicating with a hollow interior portion thereof, the opening being configured to receive a module therein, the cage having a plurality of walls, the walls including at least two opposing sidewalls, and opposing top and bottom walls, the bottom wall including a bottom opening disposed therein sized to receive a connector therein which is mounted to a circuit board, said bottom wall being configured to be joined to the circuit board;
• and
• a flexible layered, EMI shield member provided along said bottom wall and extending completely around the bottom wall opening, the shield member having a generally horizontal body portion with a plurality of contact points extending out of the plane of said shield member, said shield member being held between said cage and said circuit board when said cage is mounted to said circuit board, said shield member forming a shielded interface between said cage and said circuit board and completely encompassing said bottom opening.
