Abstract
A method comprises providing a bio-based feedstock; contacting the bio-based feedstock with a solvent in a hydrolysis reaction to form an intermediate stream comprising carbohydrates; contacting the intermediate stream with an apr catalyst to form a plurality of oxygenated intermediates, wherein a first portion of the oxygenated intermediates are recycled to form the solvent; and processing at least a second portion of the oxygenated intermediates to form a fuel blend.

-23. (canceled)
A method comprising:
- providing a biomass solid;
- contacting the biomass solid with a solvent and APR catalyst in the presence of hydrogen in a reactor to form a plurality of oxygenated intermediates thereby providing an oxygenated intermediate stream, wherein a first portion of the oxygenated intermediates are recycled to form the solvent;
- and
- processing at least a second portion of the oxygenated intermediates to form a fuel blend.
1 more element
A direct aqueous phase reforming system of biomass comprising:
- an APR reactor containing an APR catalyst comprising an inlet for receiving the biomass, an inlet for receiving solvent, and an inlet for receiving hydrogen, and an outlet for discharging an oxygenated intermediate stream,
- a separator comprising an inlet for the oxygenated intermediate stream, wherein a first portion of the oxygenated intermediate stream is recycled to the APR reactor as the solvent and a second portion of the oxygenated intermediate stream is provided to a fuel processor reactor;
- and
- a fuels processing reactor comprising an inlet for receiving the second portion of the oxygenated intermediate stream and an outlet for discharging a fuel blend.
