Abstract
Methods and means are provided to produce positively charged oligosaccharides in the plant cell wall by introducing into said plant cell a Nodulation C protein fused to a heterologous Golgi signal anchor sequence.
Claims27
A method for production of positively charged oligosaccharides in the plant cell wall, particularly the secondary cell wall of a plant cell, said method comprising
- a. Introducing or providing a chimeric gene in the plant cell, said chimeric gene comprising:
- 1. a plant-expressible promoter;
- 2. a DNA region coding for a Nodulation C protein fused to a signal anchor sequence for targeting to the membranes of the Golgi-apparatus;
- and
- 3. a transcription termination and polyadenylation region.
