Abstract
Some aspects of the disclosure relate to transmitting content over a network. For example, a device may determine that it is missing a content fragment from its cache, and may send a request for the content fragment. A network device may be configured to respond to such requests by transmitting the content fragment. In some instances, this may allow receiving devices to acquire the missing content fragment without the need to transmit a request for content.

A method, comprising:
- transmitting content to a device;
- receiving, at a computing device and from the device, a request that identifies a content fragment, the content fragment being a part of the content transmitted to the device;
- and
- responsive to the request, transmitting the content fragment using a plurality of packets, said plurality of packets being configured to enable reassembly of the content fragment at a plurality of receiving devices, the plurality of packets including one or more content data portions of the content fragment and one or more attributes related to the content fragment.

An apparatus, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing computer executable instructions configured to, with the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- transmit content to a device;
- receive, from the device, a request that identifies a content fragment, the content fragment being a part of the content transmitted to the device;
- and
- responsive to the request, transmit the content fragment using a plurality of packets, said plurality of packets being configured to enable reassembly of the content fragment at a plurality of receiving devices, the plurality of packets including one or more content data portions of the content fragment and one or more attributes related to the content fragment.
