Abstract
The present invention is a system, method, and apparatus that relates to providing a quick measurement the difference, if any, of a person's left and right leg lengths, in order to determine the correct thickness of an orthotic insert for the left and/or right shoes in order to provide correction and alignment of a person's skeletal frame.
Claims3
A method for providing a quick, accurate measurement the difference, if any, of a person's left and right leg lengths, in order to determine the correct thickness of an orthotic insert for the left shoe and right shoe, in order to provide a better alignment of a person's skeletal frame, the method comprised of:
- weighing a person's weight bearing through both their left foot, and simultaneously and independently their weight bearing through their right foot;
- changing the height from a neutral position between a person's left and right feet during said simultaneous and independent weight measurements, such that said weights approach a same numeric value as an indication that said person's center of gravity now bears nearly equally through both their left and right legs.
A method for providing a quick, accurate measurement the difference, if any, of a person's left and right leg lengths, in order to determine the correct thickness of an orthotic insert for the left shoe and right shoe, in order to provide a better alignment of a person's skeletal frame, the method comprised of the following steps:
- step 1) placing a shim of minimum thickness under a person's left foot;
- step 2) said person subjectively determines if their center of gravity now bears nearly equally through both their left and right legs;
- step 3) record said subjective results;
- step 4) repeat said steps 1, 2, and 3 as many times as necessary with the next increasing thickness of shim, in order to receive subjective feedback that clearly indicates which shim makes a person feel in best alignment;
- step 5) placing a shim of minimum thickness under a person's right foot;
- step 6) said person subjectively determines if their center of gravity now bears nearly equally through both their left and right legs;
- step 7) record said subjective results;
- step 8) repeat said steps 5, 6 and 7 as many times as necessary with the next increasing thickness of shim;
- and
- step 9) evaluating the record made in steps 3 and 7 to determine which leg is shorter, and also the correct thickness of said shim that corresponds to an orthotic insert of correct thickness.
A method for providing a quick, accurate measurement the difference, if any, of a person's left and right leg lengths, in order to determine the correct thickness of an orthotic insert for the left shoe and right shoe, in order to provide a better alignment of a person's skeletal frame, the method comprised of the following steps:
- step 1) said person stands with each foot on two independent, integrated high-sample rate scales;
- step 2) said scales record the difference in weight, if any, between the weight bearing down through said person's left and right legs;
- step 3) floor supporting said scales raise and lower until said scales record a difference of less than a few tenths of a pound of difference;
- step 4) compute device determines said difference in step 3 is at the correct shim height to choose correct said orthotic insert.
