Abstract
A process for oxidizing an alkyl-aromatic compound is described. The process includes contacting the alkyl-aromatic compound, a solvent comprising a precursor of at least one ionic liquid, a bromine source, a catalyst, and an oxidizing agent to produce an oxidation product comprising at least one of an aromatic alcohol, an aromatic aldehyde, an aromatic ketone, and an aromatic carboxylic acid.
Claims20
A process for oxidizing an alkyl-aromatic compound comprising:
- contacting the alkyl-aromatic compound, a solvent comprising a precursor of at least one ionic liquid, a bromine source, a catalyst, and an oxidizing agent to produce an oxidation product comprising at least one of an aromatic alcohol, an aromatic aldehyde, an aromatic ketone, and an aromatic carboxylic acid.
A process for oxidizing an alkyl-aromatic compound comprising:
- oxidizing the alkyl-aromatic compound, a solvent comprising at least one ionic liquid precursor, a bromine source, a catalyst, and an oxidizing agent under oxidation conditions to produce an oxidation product comprising at least one of an aromatic alcohol, an aromatic aldehyde, an aromatic ketone, and an aromatic carboxylic acid, wherein the oxidation product contains less than about 2500 ppm of 4-carboxybenzaldehyde.
