Abstract
Disclosed are processes for preparing 1,2-cyclohexanediol, and mixtures of 1,2-cyclohexanediol and 1,6-hexanediol, by hydrogenating 1,2,6-hexanetriol.

A process comprising contacting 1,2,6-hexanetriol with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at a temperature in the range of from about 120° C. to about 300° C. and at a pressure in the range of from about 200 psi to about 3000 psi to form a product mixture comprising 1,2-cyclohexanediol.
