Abstract
The present invention provides an isolated cell obtainable from the CTX0E03 neural stem cell line for use in the treatment of a disorder associated with elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, wherein the disorder is selected from unipolar and bipolar depression, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, autism and autistic syndrome disorders.

A composition comprising an isolated cell obtainable from the CTX0E03 neural stem cell line wherein said composition is formulated for use in the treatment of a disorder associated with elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

A method for determining the potential effectiveness of a CTX0E03 stem cell line for use as a therapy in the treatment of a psychiatric disorder, comprising the steps of:
- (i) contacting a sample of peripheral blood cells from a patient suffering from a psychiatric disorder with cells of the cell line;
- and
- (ii) determining the effect of the cells of the cell line on the proinflammatory cytokine response of the peripheral blood cells.
A method for treating a patient having a disorder associated with elevated levels of proinflammatory cytokines, wherein said method comprises administering to the patient a composition comprising a cell obtainable from the CTX0E03 neural stem cell line.
