The present invention relates to specific Lactobacillus strains with an anti-oxidant effect.

An isolated Lactobacillus strain able to alleviate the effects on C. elegans of oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide, wherein said strain is selected from the group consisting of:
- Lactobacillus casei strain CNCM-I 1518;
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus strain CNCM I-3690;
- and
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus strain CNCM I-4271.
