Stereoscopic image converting apparatus and stereoscopic image displaying apparatus

A stereoscopic image converting apparatus inputting two or more images having different viewpoints to output the two or more input images with a convergent angle changed, comprising:

• a photographing condition extracting portion for extracting convergent angle conversion information that is a photographing condition at the time of photographing of the two or more images;
• and an image converting portion for changing a convergent angle at the time of photographing of the two or more images, wherein
• the image converting portion includes a convergent angle correction value calculating portion that calculates a maximum disparity value of the two or more images based on convergent angle conversion information extracted by the photographing condition extracting portion and display size information of a display screen for displaying the two or more images and calculates a convergent angle correction value making the calculated maximum disparity value equal to or less than a preliminarily specified maximum disparity value, and a convergent angle conversion processing portion that generates images having a convergent angle changed from that at the time of photographing of the two or more images based on the calculated convergent angle correction value.
