Systems and methods for multi-network audio control

A computer readable storage medium including instructions for execution by a processor, the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to implement a method to connect a device to a playback network, the method comprising:

• identifying a first network within range of a wireless device for connection;
• initiating, by the wireless device, connection of the wireless device to the first network;
• adding the first network to a list of a plurality of networks for connection by the wireless device;
• monitoring, via the wireless device, one or more available networks from the list of networks that are within range of the wireless device;
• evaluating the one or more available networks to identify a preferred network for connection based on at least one network characteristic;
• and
• facilitating a switch from connection of the wireless device to the first network if the preferred network is different from the first network.

A wireless device comprising:

• a wireless communication interface to identify a first network within range of the wireless device available for connection and to facilitate connection of the wireless device to the first network;
• a processor to add the first network to a registry of networks for connection by the wireless device;
• and
• a signal strength monitor to monitor one or more available networks from the registry of networks that are within range of the wireless device,
• wherein the processor is to evaluate the one or more available networks to identify a preferred network for connection based on at least one network characteristic and facilitate a switch from connection of the wireless device to the first network if the preferred network is different from the first network.
