Abstract
Methods and apparatus related to adjustable recessed trim. An adjustable recessed trim (10) for a lighting fixture includes an enclosure with a light output opening (21) and a light source opening (31) provided upward from the light output opening (21). An adjustable cover piece (40) having a cover piece light source opening (41) is provided over the enclosure in registration with the enclosure light source opening (31) and is adjustable between at least a first position and a second position.
Claims19
An adjustable recessed downlight trim, comprising:
- a light output opening (21);
- an enclosure extending upwardly from said light output opening (21) and defining an enclosed space therein, said enclosure having an enclosure light source opening (31) therein provided upward from said light output opening (21);
- an adjustable cover piece (40) provided over said enclosure and adjustable between at least a first position and a second position, said cover piece having a cover piece light source opening (41) and a cover piece flange (44) extending from said cover piece light source opening (41);
- wherein said cover piece light source opening (41) is smaller than said enclosure light source opening (31) and is in registration with said enclosure light source opening (31) in said first position and said second position;
- and
- wherein said cover piece flange (44) covers the remainder of said enclosure light source opening (31) not in registration with said cover piece light source opening (41) in said first position and in said second position.
An adjustable recessed trim, comprising:
- a trim flange (22) surrounding an opening (21);
- an enclosure extending upwardly from said trim flange (22) and defining an enclosed space therein, said enclosure having an upper enclosure opening (31) therein provided upward from said opening (21);
- an adjustable cover piece (40) pivotally coupled to said enclosure and adjustable along a substantially arcuate path between at least a first position and a second position, said cover piece having a cover piece opening (41) and a cover piece flange (44) extending from said cover piece opening (41);
- wherein said cover piece opening (41) is smaller than said upper enclosure opening (31) and is in registration with said upper enclosure opening (31) in said first position and said second position;
- and
- wherein said cover piece flange (44) covers portions of said upper enclosure opening (31) in said first position and said second position.
A method of adjusting positioning of a light source opening in an adjustable recessed lighting fixture, comprising:
- slidably adjusting a positioning of an outer cover piece provided directly over top of a light source opening along an arcuate path, said light source opening provided in an upper portion of a trim frame enclosure substantially opposite a light output opening (21);
- wherein said outer cover piece includes a cover piece opening therethrough that is smaller dimensionally than said light source opening.
