## Abstract

Disclosed is a radio technology independent method for coexistence among dissimilar or independently operated TV Band Device (TVBD) networks and dissimilar TV Band Devices. A resource allocation method on Hybrid topology is disclosed, which comprises steps of receiving at least one available resource; performing a neighbor set calculation based on the received at least one available resource; calculating the resource according to the neighbor set calculation; receiving at least one channel list set from each of the coexistence manager (CM) entity; determining whether there is any conflict channel list set among the received channel list set, and either transmitting a confirmation message or a channel list set changing request message to CM entity based on the determination result.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of allocating a resource in wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving at least one available resource from a TV database (TVDB) entity, wherein the at least one available resource is received by either a coexistence discovery and information server (CDIS) entity or coexistence manager (CM) entity;
performing, by the CDIS entity, a neighbor set calculation based on the received at least one available resource, wherein the neighbor of at least one coexistence manager (CM) entity is calculated by the neighbor set calculation;
calculating, by the CDIS entity, the resource according to the neighbor set calculation;
receiving at least one channel list set from each of the CM entity;
determining whether there is any conflict channel list set among the received channel list set;
after determining step, transmitting a confirmation message to those CM entities having no conflict channel list set or transmitting a channel list set changing request message to those CM entity having conflict channel set.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one received available resource is an available TV whitespace channel list or a whitespace map.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one received available resource is received after transmitting a request for the available resource to the TVDB entity.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one received available resource is periodically received from the TVDB entity.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the neighbor set calculation includes a computation of a coexistence contour to discover the neighbor of the at least one CM entity.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the resource is calculated by making a coexistence whitespace map (CWM).

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the determination of conflict channel list set is performed by checking a priority table in the CDIS entity.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein all steps are implemented in IEEE 802.19.1.

### Claim 9

An apparatus for allocating a resource in wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:
a controller to perform the steps of;
receiving at least one available resource from a TV database (TVDB) entity, wherein the at least one available resource is received by either a coexistence discovery and information server (CDIS) entity or coexistence manager (CM) entity;
performing, by the CDIS entity, a neighbor set calculation based on the received at least one available resource, wherein the neighbor of at least one coexistence manager (CM) entity is calculated by the neighbor set calculation;
calculating, by the CDIS entity, the resource according to the neighbor set calculation;
receiving at least one channel list set from each of the CM entity;
determining whether there is any conflict channel list set among the received channel list set;
after determining step, transmitting a confirmation message to those CM entities having no conflict channel list set or transmitting a channel list set changing request message to those CM entity having conflict channel set.
