## Abstract

An interactive community alert network (iCan) system is operable to receive one or more signals indicating a report of an incident. The iCan system may determine a location of the reported incident. One or more visual and/or audio capture devices, which may be within proximity of the determined location of the reported incident may be adjusted. Corresponding visual and/or audio content of the reported incident may be captured and utilized to determine how to handle the reported incident. The location of the reported incident may be determined based on a position of a device and based on a global navigation satellite system position of a device utilized to report the incident. The location of the incident may also be determined based on information within the report of the incident and/or based on localization through use of one or more electronic mapping systems and/or panoramic still images of camera views.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, comprising updating one or more incident statistical parameters based on said reported incident.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, comprising generating one or more reports based on said one or more incident statistical parameters.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, wherein said generated one or more reports are based on one or both of time and location.

### Claim 11 (depends on 2)

The method according to claim 2, comprising generating on a graphical user interface, a map of said determined location of said reported incident.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method according to claim 11, comprising presenting within said graphical user, at least a portion of said corresponding visual and/or audio content of said reported incident.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method according to claim 13, comprising communicating said received acknowledgement to a reporter of said incident.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The method according to claim 13, comprising communicating and collaborating with said reporter during investigation of said incident.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said received one or more signals indicating a report of an incident are communicated from an app running on a smartphone.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The method according to claim 16, wherein said location of said reported incident is determined based on information communicated by said smartphone by said app.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

The method according to claim 16, wherein said app running on said smartphone comprises a panic mode of operation and a message mode of operation.

### Claim 19 (depends on 16)

The method according to claim 16, wherein said app running on said smartphone is operable to communicate with one or more other interactive community alert network systems when said smartphone is outside an operating range of said interactive community alert network system.

### Claim 20

A system, comprising:
one or more processors for use in an interactive community alert network system, said one or more processors being operable to:
receive one or more signals indicating a report of an incident;
determine a location of said reported incident;
adjust one or more visual and/or audio capture devices within proximity of said determined location of said reported incident; and
capture, from said adjusted one or more visual and/or audio capture devices, corresponding visual and/or audio content of said reported incident, wherein said captured corresponding visual and/or audio content of said reported incident is utilized to determine how to handle said reported incident.
