## Abstract

A printhead including a body; an actuator attached to the body, and an enclosed space between the actuator and the body forms a chamber; an opening defined by the body for releasing pressure in the chamber; and a seal attached to the opening to seal the chamber while permitting pressure to be released.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A printhead comprising:
a body including a fluid manifold;
a laminate subassembly including an actuator, a flex print having a plurality of electrical traces, and a cavity plate, the laminate subassembly being bonded to the body, the flex print being positioned between the actuator and cavity plate, and the cavity plate having a plurality of pumping chambers; and
an ink flow path in which ink enters the fluid manifold formed in the body and travels through openings in the flex print and into the plurality of pumping chambers.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the actuator includes a piezoelectric material.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the laminate subassembly further includes a descender plate, an acoustic dampener, spacer, and an orifice plate.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The printhead of claim 3, wherein the ink flow path further connects the plurality of pumping chambers to openings in the descender plate, the acoustic dampener, the spacer, and the orifice plate.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the flex print comprises two layers bonded together using an adhesive, and the two layers and the adhesive are made of a same material.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The printhead of claim 5, wherein the same material is a polyimide.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the plurality of electrical traces on the flex print runs in spaces between the openings in the flex print that are part of the ink flow path.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the laminate subassembly further comprises a ground plate.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The printhead of claim 1, wherein the flex print comprises a base layer and a coverlay, wherein the plurality of electrical traces are on the base layer and the coverlay includes a printable polyimide that is deposited on the base layer and covers the plurality of electrical traces.
