## Abstract

A handle module has a housing conforming to a disk drive form factor. The handle module has mounting features configured to securely install the housing in a slot conforming to the disk drive form factor. The handle module has a finger-friendly recess extending from a front of the handle module and into an interior of the housing.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system comprising a handle module including:
a housing conforming to a disk-drive form factor;
an installation feature set configured to securely install the housing in a slot conforming to the disk drive form factor; and
a finger-friendly recess extending from a front of the handle module and into an interior of the housing.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A system as recited in claim 1 wherein the form factor is a 5.25″ form factor applicable to optical disk drives.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A system as recited in claim 1 further comprising a frame conforming to a disk-drive form factor configured to accept installation of a hard disk, the frame being part of or attached to the handle module.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A system as recited in claim 1 further comprising a computer having at least one slot conforming to the form factor, the handle module being installed in the slot.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

A system as recited in claim 4 wherein the computer has at least two slots and an optical disk drive installed in a slot other than the slot in which said handle module is installed.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

A system as recited in claim 5 further comprising a hard disk installed in the same slot in which the handle module is installed.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

A system as recited in claim 6 wherein the optical drive conforms to a 5.25″ form factor and the hard drive conforms to a smaller form factor.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

A system as recited in claim 5 wherein the slots are arranged vertically so that the handle module is located above the optical disk drive.

### Claim 9

A process comprising:
installing a non-protruding handle module into a slot of a computer, the slot conforming to a standard disk drive form factor;
gripping the handle module; and
moving the computer at least in part by applying force to the handle module.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein the form factor is a 5.25″ form factor used for optical drives.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein said gripping involves inserting three finger tips and at least one knuckle of a hand into a recess of the handle module.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein said moving involves lifting the computer.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein said moving involves sliding the computer on a surface or into or out of a rack.

### Claim 14 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein said installing involves installing a hard disk in a frame that is attached to or a part of the handle module.

### Claim 15 (depends on 9)

A process as recited in claim 9 wherein said installing involves installing an optical disk drive in a slot below the slot in which the handle module is installed.
