ACCESSORIES, CLOSURES, OR FITTINGS THEREFOR; PACKAGING ELEMENTS; PACKAGES ## Abstract A package consisting of a) a container component made of polystyrene comprising a base and a side wall extending from the perimeter of the base to form the cavity of the container component, and b) a closing means removable manually and comprising a top side adapted to seal the cavity of the container component and a side wall extending from the perimeter of the top side and adapted to encircle the side wall of the container component. ## Claims ### Claim 1 A package for a frozen confectionery product comprising: a container component comprising a base and a side wall extending from the perimeter of the base to form the cavity of the container component; and closure that can be manually removed and comprising a top side adapted to seal the cavity of the container component and a side wall extending from the perimeter of the top side and adapted to encircle the side wall of the container component. ### Claim 2 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the side wall of the cavity of the container component has a two-dimensional cross-sectional shape which is selected from the group consisting of square, square with rounded corners, rectangular, circular, oval, star-shaped, cruciform, triangular, polygonal, heart-shape and leaf veins. ### Claim 3 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the top side of the closure has a cross-section corresponding to the cross-section of the side wall of the container component. ### Claim 4 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the side wall of the closure has a two-dimensional cross-sectional shape corresponding to the side wall of the container component but sufficiently large to allow it to encircle the side wall of the container component in a close fit which enables the closure to be slidably removed by hand from the container component. ### Claim 5 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the side wall of the closure encircles a major part of the length of the side wall of the container component. ### Claim 6 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the material of the container component is expanded polystyrene and injection molded polystyrene. ### Claim 7 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, wherein the closure is made of a material selected from the group consisting of solid board, corrugated board, molded cellulose pulp, injection molded polystyrene, injection molded polypropylene and injection molded polyethylene. ### Claim 8 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, comprising an injection molded polystyrene container component which is sealed with a membrane to close the cavity, and covered by the closure. ### Claim 9 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, comprising an expanded polystyrene or polypropylene container component in which an additional thermoformed plastic container is inserted and sealed on its rim by a membrane to close the opening and wherein the closure is fitted on the expanded polystyrene container component. ### Claim 10 (depends on 9) A package according to claim 9, wherein the additional thermoformed plastics container is made of a material selected from the group consisting of polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate. ### Claim 11 (depends on 8) A package according to claim 8, wherein the membrane is made of material selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, aluminium, EVOH and paper. ### Claim 12 (depends on 8) A package according to claim 8, wherein the membrane is tamper-proof. ### Claim 13 (depends on 1) A package according to claim 1, comprising a handgrip fixed to the top side of the closure. ### Claim 14 (depends on 13) A package according to claim 13, wherein the handgrip is a ribbon. ### Claim 15 (depends on 14) A package according to claim 14, wherein the ribbon is made of a material selected from the group consisting of silk, plastic, rope, paper laminate, or natural and synthetic fibres. ### Claim 16 A package for a frozen confectionery product comprising: a container comprising a base and a side wall extending from the perimeter of the base to form the cavity of the container; and a removable closing means comprising a top side that seals the cavity of the container and a side wall extending from the top side and encircling the side wall of the container.
