## Abstract

Electrodeposition baths, systems and methods are provided. In some embodiments, the baths, systems and methods are used to deposit metal alloy coatings.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-20. (canceled)

### Claim 21

An electrodeposition method comprising:
removing a sample from an electrodeposition bath comprising a tungsten and/or molybdenum ionic species, an ionic species of a second metal, and a brightening agent comprising a betaine compound, the betaine compound comprises a positively charged cationic functional group and a negatively charged anionic functional group;
analyzing the sample; and
electrodepositing a coating on an article in the electroplating bath, wherein the coating comprises tungsten and/or molybdenum, and the second metal.

### Claim 22 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the second metal is nickel.

### Claim 23 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the anionic functional group comprises a sulfate group.

### Claim 24 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the anionic functional group comprises a sulfonic group.

### Claim 25 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the anionic functional group comprises a carboxylic group.

### Claim 26 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the cationic functional group comprises an ammonium group.

### Claim 27 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the cationic functional group comprises a phosphonium group.

### Claim 28 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the cationic functional group comprises a pyridinium group.

### Claim 29 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein analyzing the sample comprises determining the concentration of the brightening agent.

### Claim 30 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21,wherein the bath comprises a wetting agent.

### Claim 31 (depends on 30)

The method of claim 30, wherein the analyzing the sample comprises determining the concentration of the wetting agent.

### Claim 32 (depends on 31)

The method of claim 31, wherein the wetting agent is sulfopropylated polyalkoxy napthol compound.

### Claim 33 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the coating comprises a tungsten alloy.

### Claim 34 (depends on 33)

The method of claim 33, wherein the coating comprises a nickel-tungsten alloy.

### Claim 35 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the coating is electrodeposited using DC plating.

### Claim 36 (depends on 21)

The method of claim 21, wherein the coating is electrodeposited using reverse pulse plating.
