## Abstract

A packing mounting and removing device includes a packing mounting and removing rod, a rod support, a rod fixing nut, and a spiral line. The packing mounting and removing device includes a packing flange having a through hole, a gland bushing, a packing, and a lantern ring. A packing exchange method uses the same. By using the device it is not necessary to use any special equipment for removing the packing, and it is possible to mount and remove the packing without disassembling a driving section and a valve disc section. Therefore, it is possible to noticeably reduce time and cost required for the mounting and removing the packing.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A device for mounting and removing packing installed at a stem of a valve disc to prevent leakage of a fluid from a valve including the valve disc, the valve packing mounting and removing device comprising:
a plurality of rods;
a ring-shaped supporter connected to the rods;
threads on outer circumferential surfaces of portions of the rods remote from the support; and
nuts engaging the threads, wherein a plurality of packings are passed through by and stacked on the rods, a gland bushing is passed through by the rods and disposed on the packings, the supporter supports the packings, and the nuts are tightened by turning on the threads to attach the packings to the gland bushing.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The valve packing mounting and removing device according to claim 1, wherein the valve comprises a packing flange having an accommodating groove configured to accommodate the nuts on the gland bushing.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The valve packing mounting and removing device according to claim 1, wherein the supporter is divided into a plurality of parts.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The valve packing mounting and removing device according to claim 1, wherein the rods have circular or polygonal cross-sections.

### Claim 5

A method of mounting a valve packing, which is installed to prevent leakage of a fluid, the method comprising:
fitting a packing onto a rod;
fitting a gland bushing onto the rod;
fastening a rod fixing nut;
disposing a packing flange on the gland bushing; and
assembling a guide ring, a beveled washer, a stud nut, and a stud bolt on the packing flange.

### Claim 6

A method of removing a valve packing, which has been installed to prevent leakage of a fluid, the method comprising:
removing a stud bolt, a stud nut, a beveled washer, and a guide ring;
moving a packing flange in a first direction;
moving a packing mounting and removing device coupled to a packing and a gland bushing in the first direction;
removing a nut; and
demounting a packing fitted onto a rod.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The method of removing the valve packing according to claim 5, wherein a lifting unit is disposed between the gland bushing and a bonnet to raise the gland bushing.
