## Abstract

A method of making a windscreen wiper device is provided. The method includes the step of preparing a wiper strip and at least one carrier element in engagement with the wiper strip. The at least one carrier element extends in a longitudinal direction between opposite ends to bias the wiper strip into a predetermined configuration. The method proceeds with sliding a first component of a frame structure onto one of the ends of the at least one carrier element and sliding a second component of the frame structure onto one of the ends of the carrier element. The method continues with the step of coupling the first and second components of the frame structure with one another only after the first and second components are both slid into engagement with the at least one carrier element.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of making a windscreen wiper device, comprising the steps of:
preparing a wiper strip and at least one elongated carrier element in engagement with the wiper strip and extending in a longitudinal direction between opposite ends to bias the wiper strip into a predetermined configuration;
sliding a first component of a frame structure onto one of the ends of the at least one carrier element;
sliding a second component of the frame structure onto one of the ends of the carrier element; and
coupling the first and second components of the frame structure with one another only after the first and second components are both slid into engagement with the at least one carrier element.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the step of sliding one component of the frame structure is further defined as sliding the first component onto a first end of the at least one carrier element and wherein the step of sliding the second component of the frame structure is further defined as sliding the second component of the frame structure onto a second end opposite of the first end of the at least one carrier element.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method as set forth in claim 2 wherein the step of coupling the first and second components of the frame structure with one another is further defined as snap fitting the first and second components of the frame structure with one another.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method as set forth in claim 3 wherein at least one component of the frame structure includes a resilient tab and another component of the frame structure includes a recess shaped similarly to the resilient tab and wherein the step of snap fitting the components to one another is further defined as engaging the resilient tab with the recess to interconnect the components with one another.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method as set forth in claim 2 wherein the first and second components each include a flange portion and wherein the wiper strip and at least one carrier element are trapped between the flange portions of the first and second components after the first and second components are coupled with one another.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The method as set forth in claim 2 wherein the first and second components of the frame structure are end piece sub-assemblies.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method as set forth in claim 6 wherein the frame structure further includes a main bridge.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method as set forth in claim 7 wherein the step of coupling the end piece sub-assemblies with one another is further defined as coupling each of the end piece sub-assemblies to the main bridge and wherein at least one of the end piece sub-assemblies is only coupled to the main bridge after both end piece sub-assemblies are in engagement with the at least one carrier element.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method as set forth in claim 8 wherein each of the end piece sub-assemblies includes an end cap with a flange portion and wherein the wiper strip and the at least one carrier element are trapped between the flange portions of the end piece sub-assemblies when they are coupled with one another through the main bridge.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method as set forth in claim 9 wherein each of the end caps further includes a pair of generally L-shaped holding elements slidably supporting the at least one carrier element.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method as set forth in claim 9 wherein each of the end piece sub-assemblies further includes a linkage with at least one set of claws slidably supporting the at least one carrier element.
