## Abstract

A windscreen wiper device for cleaning a windshield of a vehicle is provided. The windscreen wiper device includes a wiper strip for sealing against the windshield and at least one carrier element engaged with the wiper strip to bias the wiper strip into a predetermined configuration. A frame structure is coupled to the at least one carrier element and includes at least two components. One of the components presents an elongated member with a resilient tab, and another component includes a longitudinally extending opening. One of the walls of the opening has a recess shaped similarly to the resilient tab. The elongated member is inserted into the opening until the resilient tab snaps into the opening to interconnect the components.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A windscreen wiper device for cleaning a windshield of a vehicle, comprising:
an elongated wiper strip of a flexible material for sealing against the windshield;
at least one deflectable carrier element in engagement with said elongated wiper strip for biasing said elongated wiper strip into a predetermined configuration;
a frame structure coupled to said at least one carrier element;
said frame structure including at least two components with one component presenting an elongated member and another component presenting an opening shaped to receive said elongated member;
one of said component with said opening and said elongated member including a resilient tab and the other including a recess shaped to receive said resilient tab; and
said elongated member being disposed within said opening and said resilient tab being disposed within said recess to interconnect said components.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 1 wherein said resilient tab is disposed on said elongated member and wherein said recess is disposed within said opening.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 2 wherein said at least two components of said frame structure includes a main bridge and a pair of end piece sub-assemblies and wherein said end piece sub-assemblies are coupled to opposite ends of said main bridge.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 3 wherein each recess is spaced from said ends of said main bridge.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 3 wherein each of said end piece sub-assemblies includes one of said elongated members and wherein said main bridge includes a pair of said openings for receiving said elongated members on said end piece sub-assemblies.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 3 wherein each of said end piece sub-assemblies includes a linkage with at least two sets of claws spaced from one another and an end cap and a connecting piece and wherein said connecting piece includes said elongated member with said resilient tab.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 6 wherein said end cap and said linkage are pivotably coupled to opposite ends of said connecting piece and wherein said resilient tab is disposed between said end cap and said linkage.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The windscreen wiper device as set forth in claim 7 wherein said opening on said main bridge includes a slot and wherein said linkage extends downardly through said slot towards said at least one carrier element.

### Claim 9

A method of making a windscreen wiper device, comprising the steps of:
engaging at least one carrier element with a wiper strip to bias the wiper strip into a predetermined configuration;
preparing a frame structure including at least two components with one of the components having an elongated member and the other having an opening shaped to receive the elongated member and wherein one of the elongated member and the piece with the opening includes a resilient tab and the other includes a recess shaped similarly to the resilient tab;
engaging at least one of the components with the at least one carrier element; and
inserting the elongated member of one piece into the opening of the other component until the resilient tab snaps into engagement with the recess to interconnect the components.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method as set forth in claim 9 wherein one of the components is a main bridge and the other piece is an end piece sub-assembly.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method as set forth in claim 10 wherein the main bridge includes the opening and the end piece sub-assembly includes the elongated member.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method as set forth in claim 11 wherein the end piece sub-assembly includes an end cap and a linkage with at least two sets of claws and a connecting piece and wherein the connecting piece is the elongated member with the resilient tab.
