Abstract
The disclosure relates to a cotton variety, designated P04X.3074, the plants and seeds of the cotton variety P04X.3074, methods for producing a cotton plant, either varietal or hybrid, produced by crossing the cotton variety P04X.3074 with itself or with another cotton plant, hybrid cotton seeds and plants produced by crossing the variety P04X.3074 with another cotton variety or plant, methods for producing a cotton plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes, and the transgenic cotton plants produced by that method. This disclosure also relates to cotton varieties derived from cotton variety P04X.3074, to methods for producing other cotton varieties derived from cotton variety P04X.3074, and to the varieties derived by the use of those methods.
Claims20
A seed of cotton variety designated P04X.3074, or a part thereof, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12226 on Nov. 7, 2011.
A method for producing a cotton plant, comprising:
- (a) crossing cotton variety plant P04X.3074, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12226 on Nov. 7, 2011, with another different cotton plant to yield progeny cotton seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into cotton variety P04X.3074, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12226 on Nov. 7, 2011, comprising:
- (a) crossing P04X.3074 plants with plants of another cotton variety that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) crossing selected progeny plants with P04X.3074 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety P04X.3074;
- and
- (e) performing steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety P04X.3074 listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level when grown in the same environmental conditions.
