Abstract
A thermoelectric converter is formed by a plenum divided into high and low pressure chambers by a partition and includes a stack of series-coupled alkali-metal thermoelectric cells that projects orthogonally from the partition into one of the chambers.
Claims21
A thermoelectric converter comprising:
- a plenum;
- and
- a plurality of alkali-metal thermoelectric conversion cells mounted to one another in a stack within the plenum, the stack having first and second ends and being mechanically secured to the plenum at only the first end.
A thermoelectric converter comprising:
- a plenum divided into first and second chambers by a partition, the partition having an opening;
- and
- a plurality of alkali-metal thermoelectric conversion cells mounted to one another in a stack that is disposed about the opening in the partition and projects, orthogonally from the partition, into the second chamber.
A thermoelectric converter comprising:
- first and second alkali-metal thermoelectric conversion cells, each including a solid electrolyte member disposed between an anode and a cathode;
- and
- an electrically conductive brazed joint extending continuously from the anode of the first thermoelectric conversion cell to the cathode of the second thermoelectric conversion cell and physically securing the first and second thermoelectric conversion cells in a stack.
A thermoelectric converter comprising:
- first and second alkali-metal thermoelectric conversion cells mounted to one another in a stack, each of the first and second cells including a solid electrolyte member disposed between an anode and a cathode;
- an electrical interconnect structure extending from the cathode of the first cell to the anode of the second cell;
- and
- a first electrically insulating barrier disposed between the anode of the first cell and the electrical interconnect structure and projecting away from the stack by a distance substantially greater than a thickness of the anode of the first cell.
