- and
- a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to:
- receive a plurality of preference events regarding the content item, from a plurality of users;
- identify a cohort of users that previously orchestrated preference events for at least one other content item and that includes at least one user in the plurality of users;
- determine whether the cohort is more likely than not to have orchestrated the plurality of preference events;
- and
- determine whether to promote the content item, wherein promoting the content item comprises increasing a prominence of the content item in an interface through which content items are presented to users.
A computer program product for determining whether to promote a content item, with consideration of orchestrated activity regarding the content item, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:
- receiving, regarding the content item, a plurality of preference events from a plurality of users;
- identifying a cohort of users that previously orchestrated preference events for at least one other content item and that includes at least one user in the plurality of users;
- determining whether the cohort is more likely than not to have orchestrated the plurality of preference events;
