Abstract
Systems, methods and apparatus are provided for generating electronic transactional documents using a form generating system. The electronic transactional document may be created using a design tool that allows a user to place data entry fields over an image or snap shot of a transactional document. Rules, default values, and attributes associated with the date entry fields may be established as the electronic transactional document is being created.

A system, comprising:
- a form building system comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon which when executed by a processor cause the processor to:
- receive, from a user, a selection of an electronically stored real estate form;
- retrieve an image of the real estate form from a first record in a first data store;
- cause a display of the image of the real estate form on a graphical display, the image comprising human-readable text and an answer area graphically proximate the human-readable text,
- cause a display of an electronic canvas on the graphical display, wherein at least a portion of the image overlaps the electronic canvas;
- cause a display of a plurality of data entry field types on the graphical display;
- receive, from the user, a selection of one of the plurality of data entry field types;
- receive, from the user, a placement position of a data entry field of the selected data entry field type, wherein the placement position is a location within the bounds of the electronic canvas, and wherein the placement position of the data entry field is graphically proximate the answer area of the image;
- and
- store in a second data store a second record, the second record comprising:
- an indication of the associated real estate form;
- an indication of the data entry field type;
- and
- the placement position of the data entry field within the electronic canvas.

A computer-implemented method for electronic form generation, the method comprising:
- receiving, from a user, a selection of an electronically stored real estate form;
- retrieving an image of the real estate form from a first record in a first data store;
- causing a display of the image of the real estate form on a graphical display, the image comprising human-readable text and an answer area graphically proximate the human-readable text,
- causing a display of an electronic canvas on the graphical display, wherein at least a portion of the image overlaps the electronic canvas;
- causing a display of a plurality of data entry field types on the graphical display;
- receiving, from the user, a selection of one of the plurality of data entry field types;
- receiving, from the user, a placement position of a data entry field of the selected data entry field type, wherein the placement position is a location within the bounds of the electronic canvas, and wherein the placement position of the data entry field is graphically proximate the answer area of the image;
- and
- storing in a second data store a second record, the second record comprising:
- an indication of the associated real estate form;
- an indication of the data entry field type;
- and
- the placement position of the data entry field within the electronic canvas.

- a first database storing real estate form information;
- a second database storing form records;
- a form building computer system operatively connected to the first and second databases;
- wherein the form building computer system is programmed to:
- receive, from a user, a selection of an electronically stored real estate form;
- retrieve an image of the real estate form from a first record in the first database;
- cause a display of the image of the real estate form on a graphical display, the image comprising human-readable text and an answer area graphically proximate the human-readable text,
- cause a display of an electronic canvas on the graphical display, wherein at least a portion of the image overlaps the electronic canvas;
- cause a display of a plurality of data entry field types on the graphical display;
- receive, from the user, a selection of one of the plurality of data entry field types;
- receive, from the user, a placement position of a data entry field of the selected data entry field type, wherein the placement position is a location within the bounds of the electronic canvas, and wherein the placement position of the data entry field is graphically proximate the answer area of the image;
- and
- store in the second data store a form record, the form record comprising:
- an indication of the associated real estate form;
- an indication of the data entry field type;
- and
- the placement position of the data entry field within the electronic canvas.
