Secure cloud-based virtual machine migration

A virtual machine, VM, system, the system comprising:

• a target physical server, PS, having a resource configuration;
• a source PS running a virtual machine, VM, the source PS being in communication with the target PS, the source PS including:
• a memory storing a migration policy file, the migration policy file including at least one trust criteria, the at least one trust criteria indicating a minimum resource configuration;
• a receiver receiving target PS resource configuration;
• and
• a processor in communication with the memory and receiver, the processor:
• determining whether the target PS resource configuration meets the at least one trust criteria;
• and
• initiating VM migration to the target PS based at least in part on whether the target PS resource configuration meets the at least one trust criteria.

A method for trusted virtual machine, VM, migration from a source physical server, PS, to a target PS, the method, comprising:

• storing a migration policy file at the source PS, the migration policy file includes at least one trust criteria;
• receiving a target PS resource configuration;
• determining whether the target PS resource configuration meets the at least one trust criteria;
• and
• initiating VM migration to a target PS based at least in part on whether the target PS resource configuration meets the at least one trust criteria.
