Computer implemented methods and apparatus for providing group-related social network information

A non-transitory tangible computer-readable storage medium storing instructions executable by a computing device to perform a method for providing information to an information feed associated with a group of an online social network, the method comprising:

• receiving, at a computing device, a network communication including a group address and data, the group address encoded to include a first identifier associating the network communication with a first user and a second identifier associating the network communication with the group;
• decoding the group address to obtain the first identifier associating the network communication with the first user and the second identifier associating the network communication with the group;
• providing at least a portion of the data in the network communication as an information update to the information feed associated with the group;
• and
• providing the information update in the information feed for display on a display device.

One or more computing devices for providing information to an information feed associated with a group of an online social network, the one or more computing devices comprising:

• one or more processors operable to execute one or more instructions to:
• receive, at a computing device, a network communication including a group address and data, the group address encoded to include a first identifier associating the network communication with a first user and a second identifier associating the network communication with the group;
• decode the group address to obtain the first identifier associating the network communication with the first user and the second identifier associating the network communication with the group;
• provide at least a portion of the data in the network communication as an information update to the information feed associated with the group;
• and
• provide the information update in the information feed for display on a display device.
