Abstract
A method and system for conducting an online payment transaction through a point of sale device. The method includes receiving input from a user selecting an item for purchase through the point of sale device; calculating a total purchase amount for the item in response to a request from the user to purchase the item; and sending payment authorization for the total purchase amount from the point of sale device to a payment entity, in which the payment authorization is sent to the payment entity via a mobile communication device of the user. The method further includes receiving a result of the payment authorization from the payment entity through the mobile communication device; and completing the payment transaction based on the result of the payment authorization.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving a request from a user selecting an item for purchase, the request received at a merchant portal via a point of sale (POS) terminal;
- receiving a cellphone number corresponding to an account associated with the user at the merchant portal;
- receiving a transaction code at the merchant portal from the user, wherein the management server provides the transaction code to an operating system platform based payment application running on a mobile device associated with the user after the cellphone number is received from the merchant portal at the management server;
- and
- transmitting the transaction code to the management server for authentication, wherein the management server uses payment credentials stored at the management server to process a transaction corresponding to the item selected for purchase.
A system comprising:
- an input interface configured to receive a request from a user selecting an item for purchase and a cellphone number corresponding to an account associated with the user, the request received at a merchant portal via a point of sale (POS) terminal;
- a processor configured to identify a transaction code at the merchant portal from the user, wherein the management server provides the transaction code to an operating system platform based payment application running on a mobile device associated with the user after the cellphone number is received from the merchant portal at the management server;
- and
- an output interface configured to transmit the transaction code to the management server for authentication, wherein the management server uses payment credentials stored at the management server to process a transaction corresponding to the item selected for purchase.
