Abstract
Methods of forming a low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy device include depositing a solution comprising a soluble form of a radioactive material on a substrate. A water-insoluble form of the radioactive material is formed on the substrate by chemical precipitation and/or thermal decomposition.
Claims36
A method of forming a low-dose (LDR) brachytherapy device, the method comprising:
- forming a plurality of substrates having a water-insoluble form of a radioactive material thereon;
- and
- positioning the plurality of substrates on a carrier core;
- and
- forming a medical device from the carrier core and the plurality of substrates.
2 more elements
A low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy device comprising:
- a carrier core;
- and
- a plurality of spaced-apart substrates affixed to the carrier core, at least some of the plurality of spaced-apart substrates having a water-insoluble form of a radioactive material thereon.
