Abstract
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a friction material. The friction material of the present invention includes a fibrous material, a binder, and a friction modifier. The friction modifier contains an artificial graphite and an inorganic filler. The artificial graphite has an average particle diameter of 1,000 to 3,000 μm. The inorganic filler has a plurality of convex parts.

A friction material comprising:
- a fibrous material;
- a binder;
- and
- a friction modifier,
- wherein the friction modifier contains an artificial graphite having an average particle diameter of 1,000 to 3,000 μm and an inorganic filler having a plurality of convex parts.
