The present invention relates to the use of an anesthetic agent for killing clinically latent microorganisms associated with microbial infections and to novel combinations comprising an anesthetic agent and an antimicrobial agent for the treatment of microbial infections.

Use according to claim 12 wherein the infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising an antimicrobial agent, an anesthetic agent and a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant, diluent or carrier for use in killing clinically latent microorganisms associated with a microbial infection.
A product comprising an antimicrobial agent and an anesthetic agent as a combined preparation for simultaneous, separate or sequential use in killing clinically latent microorganisms associated with a microbial infection.
