Abstract
This disclosure relates to compositions and methods for inducing immune response. Specifically, the disclosure relates to a composition comprising a subunit antigen stabilized by a polysaccharide-containing plant extract, in which the antigen consists of virus-like particles that have enhanced mucosal immuno-genicity as a result of the stabilization.
Claims32
A composition comprising a dry powder containing a subunit antigen comprising virus-like particles, wherein said subunit antigen is stabilized by a polysaccharide-containing plant extract.
A method of producing an immune response in a subject, comprising the step of administering to the subject a dry powder vaccine composition comprising a dry powder containing a subunit antigen comprising virus-like particles, wherein said subunit antigen is stabilized by a polysaccharide-containing plant extract, wherein said immune response is produced in the absence of other adjuvant compositions.
A composition comprising rehydrated powders for parenteral immunization consisting essentially of a rehydrated dry powder formulation of virus-like particles that gels in situ upon contact with body fluids as a result of interacting with low levels of calcium ions in interstitial fluids.
