Abstract
The present disclosure provides methods for treating neurological disorders, generally involving modulating protein kinase D1 (PKD1) activity levels in a neuron or glial cell in an individual in need thereof. The present disclosure provides antibodies specific for PKD1. The present disclosure provides a genetically modified non-human mammal deficient in PKD1 activity.
Claims20
A method for treating a neurological disorder or a neurodegenerative disease in an individual, the method comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of an agent that inhibits activity of protein kinase D1 (PKD1) in a neuronal cell and/or a glial cell in the individual.
An isolated interfering nucleic acid that specifically reduces the level of protein kinase D1 (PKD1) in a cell.
An isolated antibody that specifically binds protein kinase D1 (PKD1).
A genetically modified non-human mammal comprising a defect in an endogenous protein kinase D1 (PKD1) gene, wherein the genetically modified non-human mammal comprises a stably integrated heterologous nucleic acid in the endogenous PKD1 gene, resulting in a defect in the endogenous PKD1 gene such that the genetically modified non-human mammal has decreased PKD1 activity levels compared to the level of PKD1 activity in a control mammal of the same species.
